STORY - SYNOPSIS
Act 1 - Jangan Kental Lah Beb
Act 2 - Brader Buat Rekod
Knowing that he will never get his father’s approval, made Romli more determined to pursue his ambition to become a rock musician. Quietly, Romli picked up skills in playing the guitar and even started to write his own songs. As his songs became popular Romli knew that one day he had to show the public the face behind the songs. A revelation that Romli feels will disappoint his father who has always hoped that Romli continue in his foot steps in playing and promoting traditional music. To avoid the storm at home, Romli decided to change his name and use a mask in all his public performances. No one will know his real identity and more importantly his father will not know his involvement in rock music.
Act 3 - Romli Main Zapin
Not long after, Romli proved to be a skilled composer, lyric writer and singer. He had a large following. But deep down Romli felt that something was missing in his music. He knew that to find his own identity, he had to go back to his roots. He started composing songs using traditional tunes and instruments and also injected inspirational lyrics in the songs. His compositions created a phenomenon in the industry. It even attracted hard-core traditional music practitioners to acknowledge the wonderful fusion work Romli has done. Even Romli’s father was attracted to Romli’s songs and among his favourite was a song entitled "Belerang Merah". Act 5 - Rock Never Die!
Romli’s father was delighted to receive an invitation to a prestigious event to acknowledge his contribution in the traditional music scene. That evening he was further elated when a masked performer paid tribute to him. Yusof only know the performer as the singer of his favourite song, Rock Opera. The performer revealed how Yusof was his source of inspiration through out his musical career and he owed all his success to Yusof. Puzzled Yusof clapped and even shouted that “I love your songs, especially Rock Opera.” Dedicating his song, Rock Opera to his father, Romli unmasked himself. Tears rolled from his father’s eyes. His favourite singer is in fact his very own renegade son.
Epilogue - The Philosophy
If you have sown your seeds well no matter what direction it grows, it will turn out to be a beautiful flower.
Every man is at will to choose his path and discover his potentials. When the journey forward ends, a new journey, lead by his spiritual and cultural upbringing ingrained when he was young, will take him on a voyage back to his roots
