ROCK OPERA

ROCK OPERA: THE MUSICAL - A ROCK ANTHOLOGY is the sequel to the successful rock-theatre that stormed the Esplanade Concert Hall with rock music in February 2005. Rock Opera: An Artiste Life received strong support from both the electronic and print media and was performed to a packed audience whose only unfulfilled wish was for an endless performance. The unique fusion of traditional theatre and rock music surprised the audiences who eventually admitted, based on feedback forms that Rock Opera was a theatrical experience that they enjoyed very much and was by far the best theatre performance they have seen for a long time.
The Event Partner for Rock Opera: The Musical - A Rock Anthology is Popagenda.
Rock Opera: An Artiste's Life provided a nostalgic walk down memory lane recollecting popular hang outs during the 80's like Queensway Shopping Centre, Clementi Expo and recount the craze school girls had with popular rockers. Though a sole storyteller told the story, we managed to weave in emotions and allowed the audience to visualize what they experienced in the 80's. Filial piety and persistence were the life skills shared during the first Rock Opera. More importantly, Rock Opera shared values about knowing and understanding one's roots and applying that knowledge to move forward in life. So not only did the audience enjoy the music during the theatrical concert, they also were given mental inputs that lingered on in their thoughts long after they left the concert hall.
THIS will be a first for a Malay production to showcase an inspiring two-hour musical that features new rock music compositions with ethnic and classical influence from Southeast Asia's top composers tastefully twigged to appeal to Asians.
Utilizing the mass appeal of rock music and the energy it transcends in both its music and lyrics, Rock Opera: The Musical, will appeal to Singaporeans of all ages. The youth will be attracted to the idea of enjoying rock music better through creative fusion works while the twenty-something's can look forward to the nostalgic memories of the eighties. The thirty something's and above will be treated to a sneak preview of their future role when they will be called upon to guide the young and take up responsibility in to make things right in their community.
